spx:

The SPX 2014 Tumblr Meet-Up is a Go!

For the third year in a row SPX is hosting a Tumblr meet-up to kick off day two of the Small Press Expo!

TIME TO RSVP Y’ALL

WHEN: Sunday September 14th, 11AM (1 hour before showtime).

WHERE: Downstairs, right outside the White Flint Auditorium.

WHO SHOULD COME: Exhibitors, attendees, folks just passing through!

FULL VENUE DETAILS: Get the whole shebang at spxpo.com.

No need to buy a ticket to SPX to attend the Meet-Up but we certainly hope you’ll stay and enjoy the show!

We’ll have - in limited quantities - stickers and buttons, coffee and vittles, not to mention limited edition prints available for the taking!

Got comics, minis, zines or baked goods you’d like to share or trade? This’ll be a great place to do it, or just chat it out before the opening of the show.

Last year we had something like 90 people RSVP and over a hundred take part in the Meet-Up.  An awesome turnout, but there are something like 50,000 of you following us here - I hope you all can make it!

Our thanks to the Tumblr staff for all the lurve and support!

Hey, meetups, we’re lookin’ at you!

Share, share share!  Help us spread the word!

I’ll be there!  Will you?

So happy to announce the book I’ve been working on for the past six months. Pigs Might Fly. An all ages steam punk (diesel punk?) graphic novel to be published by First Second. I’ve been working on this book with Nick Abadzis, of Laika fame. Nick wrote it, I am illustrating it, and Laurel Lynn Leake is doing the color. It’s been officially announced today and I’m so very very very excited to share. There is an article up on Comics Alliance that says it all a lot better than I can. And with oodles of concept art.

Great writer (Nick Abadzis) + great artist (Jerel Dye) + great colorist (Laurel Lynn Leake).  You do the math!

The piglet’s out of the bag! :D

-Available to pre-order now-
You knew it was coming, but now we’re finally able to announce officially that Dog City issue #3 is on the horizon!
Even more exciting is that issue #3 will be available in just about 3 weeks! We’re launching this issue at a live event on September 5th, and we’ll be releasing more details about that soon. We are very excited about this, and we hope you are too.
And you should be excited, because Dog City 3 will feature new comics by:
Sophie Goldstein,
Caitlin Rose Boyle,
Luke Healy,
Simon Reinhardt,
Juan Fernandez,
Amelia Onorato,
Allison Banister and Tom O’Brien with a collaborative mini,
Iris Yan,
D. Rinylo,
(and MORE!)
Issue #3 will also feature prints and posters by Laurel Lynn Leake and Steven Krall.
Perhaps most excitingly, issue #3 will be reprinting a selection of strips from the now-forgotten newspaper series Who’s Zoo, which has been restored and compiled by Reilly Hadden!
All of this will, of course, come packaged in a screen-printed cardboard box!
The best news of all is that you can pre-order your copy of Dog City issue #3 right now. We highly recommend pre-ordering a copy as our issues are all hand-made and produced in VERY LIMITED quantities. Once this thing sells out, we will not be making any more.
Be sure to follow us here, or check back over the coming weeks, for posts spotlighting issue #3’s creators, and previews of the comics you’ll find inside of issue #3!
Woof woof!
-The Dog City Team

I’m so pumped to add an original screen-printed MEGA PINK dogtastic poster to this year’s box!  Look out for a sneak peak soon. View Larger
